We took the same cotton panel rib knit material used in our beanies and scarves and made the ultimate winter layering bottoms - long johns. The panel rib makes an incredible long john because it adds that extra layer of insulation under your jeans or chinos without sending you into the overheated zone. The material has great compression and also recovery stretch, so it will cling to the leg well and not bunch up under jeans and also extend out well for longer legs. These long johns are made at a small knitting mill outside of Reading, PA that has been making goods in the same location since the late 1800s. The vintage knitting machines of this mill knit a distinctive tonal horizontal striping pattern, a subtle detail that we feel brings something completely unique to these knits. This cap is 100% USA made: the cotton is grown in the southern USA, spun and dyed in the Carolinas, and then knit into cloth and cut and sewn in Pennsylvania.
